Awesome ALF ideas!
Check out these awesome ALF ideas – perhaps you could use some of these in your outreach amongst children! Let us know how you get on:info@ariseministries.org.uk
‘ALF Journaling / scrap-booking’ – encourage the children to make and keep their very own diary / record of what they discover as they go along the journey that is ‘About Life and Faith’.
'Barmy Building Challenge’ (Theme section: ‘The Bible’)
Along with ‘Bat-less Cricket’ and ‘Bible Basics Races’ from ALF 2, this is a great Arise game to play when discovering more about the importance of the Bible.
You will need:
- Lego bricks
- Pictures of pre-made ‘ideal home’
- Advice cards for making ‘ideal home’
To play:
- Prior to the activity the leader will need to make an ‘ideal home’ out of some Lego. They are to then take some photographs of this and create advice cards as to how to make it.
- Divide the children up into two teams and provide them each with a bucket containing the same quantity and type of Lego.
- Explain to them how you would like them to build your ‘ideal home’ out of the Lego.
- Provide just one group with the pictures and advice cards for making the ‘ideal home’.
- Have a discussion afterwards about the challenge and about how we need advice; we don’t have to work things out on our own; the Bible is the greatest book we could have to help us!!
'Photographic time-line’ – encourage the children to keep a photographic time line of what they do and discover on their ALF Adventure – they could also create captions to show how this will help them in their daily life. This would be great to display at the ‘Special ALF Events’ from the ‘ALF Year of Outreach’ Manual; the children could set-up a special gallery/exhibition area specifically for this.
Have fun!! |
