It is with great excitement that the latest resource from Arise Ministries has been launched this month.
Initially devised and written while I was working as a minister in a local church context, I wanted to share with the children in the community the truly awesome story at the heart of Christmas. For many children it is a time that is focussed around getting things, eating lots, time off from school and little else. Wanting to share with them that there is much more to it, 'Journey to the Centre of the Christmas Pudding' was created.
The 'Journey to the Centre of the Christmas Pudding' Teaching Guide is an event guide designed to enable you to communicate the Christmas story in an engaging and exciting way to children aged 7-11. Its aim is to raise questions about the relevance of the Christian Christmas story to their lives today and to take children on a journey to the centre of Christmas and the central event of Christmas, the birth of Jesus.
Split into four sections, each lasting about 30 minutes - so the whole event should last no more than two hours, the material can be used as a one-off event or as the first step in reaching out to the children in your community with the fact that God created them, loves them and wants to know each one of them personally.
My prayer is that this resource will help churches to share with children in a fun and exciting way the real, life-changing meaning of Christmas.
